Shireen Carter was born and raised in Des Moines Iowa, and graduated from Lincoln High School. In 1997, she moved to Las Vegas, where she worked in retail sales, the mortgage industry, and long-term care. Realizing that Iowa was meant to be her lifelong home, she returned in 2008 to attend Drake Law School.
While in law school, Shireen was active in the Middleton Children’s Rights Clinic at Drake, where she represented children and parents in Children in Need of Assistance, delinquency, guardianship, adoption, and emancipation cases. She was a finalist in the C. Edwin Moore Oral Argument Competition, where she finished in the top 4 of 107 participants.
Shireen was a member of Drake Law Women, was the Co-Chair of Women in the Law. She also served as a Drake University Law School Ambassador, which introduces prospective students to Drake Law School.
Shireen has completed the 40 hour divorce and family mediation training program.
